YEREVAN. –Armenian Union for National Self-Determination will participate in the upcoming elections making an ally with a political power, the head of the party Paruyr Hayrikyan told the journalists on Wednesday.

“We have never participated in the elections within an ally, as we were sure that the elections were not fair and transparent. We believe that this time it will not be perfect as well. However, we should be united with a political power for a perfect state putting aside our personal and career pretensions,” the party leader stated.

The party will hold the session of the board representatives on August 10, where the timetable, plans and offers will be set.

According to Hayrikyan, six political powers have already approved to make an ally with the Union for National Self-Determination party. Hayrikyan has also written three letters to Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan. In the first letter he noted that foreign representatives should be invited on the occasion of Armenia’s 20th anniversary of independence and be thanked for their participation in the referendum towards the struggle for Armenian’s independence. The second letter calls the president’s attention on people who elaborate the idea of strategy gained as a result of the referendum of the independence. The third letter invites the Republican Party to participate in the pilgrimage together with the Union for National Self-Determination party.

Besides, Hayrikyan believes that the day of independence on September 21 should be celebrated as the day of the referendum of the independence as Armenia had independence for many centuries before that.
