YEREVAN. - Snap elections are of benefit to Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), as no doubt the RPA will win the elections, head of Republican parliamentary group Galust Sahakyan told reporters on Friday, commenting on the dialogue between Armenian authorities and oppositional Armenian National Congress (ANC).
The third round of talks between the incumbent authorities and the ANC was held in Yerevan in Thursday. “Even snap election does not weaken our confidence about the results. In any event, the Republican Party will win the elections. Such expectations account for the public support and trust in the party. As it is known, snap presidential and parliamentary elections are the ANC’s main demand, presented during the dialogue with the authorities,” Sahakyan emphasized.
According to him, the ANC is trying to create an illusion of dual power in Armenia. “The ANC is trying to show there are only two forces in the country and talks are conducted to gain power. However, the ANC is not the only political force the RPA is holding a dialogue with. We also cooperate with ARF Dashnaktsutyun, Heritage party and Communist party. Any political force can discuss issues of common interest with us,” he noted.
