Municipal authorities in Switzerland limit the use of water against the background of a strong heat wave.

In the east and west of the country introduced a ban on the pumping of water from rivers, streams and ponds, Swissinfo reported.

Some municipalities have also banned filling private swimming pools, using sprinklers or washing cars. Some parts of the Rhine River and Lake Constance are closed due to low water levels.

The authorities also advised people to refrain from making fires in the forests.

The Swiss government has warned of health problems, especially among the elderly in the southern regions, because of the intense heat.

According to the state meteorological agency MeteoSwiss, the maximum temperature reached 38.1 ° C in Geneva on Tuesday, while the city of Basel recorded 36.5 ° C.
