Brussels denies the failure of sanctions against Russia, expecting that the sanctions will help to end the war in Ukraine as soon as possible, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said.
According to him, the EU wants new sanctions only to somehow justify its own erroneous decisions that are damaging, because admitting that sanctions are a dead end requires bringing those responsible to justice.
"Brussels promised that sanctions would bring the Russian economy to its knees and thereby help to end the war as quickly as possible. However, it is now clear that the war is in brutal form and the European economy is heading toward recession," he said.
He said leaders who supported the sanctions should recognize that they are the reason the European economy is headed toward recession and step down. "That would be the normal reaction of those who damaged Europe by imposing sanctions," he said.
