YEREVAN.- Georgia’s Ambassador to Armenia Tengiz Sharmanashvili was invited to the Armenian Foreign Ministry regarding Georgia’s statement on local elections in Nagorno-Karabakh, Tigran Balayan spokesperson for foreign office told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Earlier on Friday Georgian MFA issued statement regarding local elections in Nagorno-Karabakh.

“The Georgian Foreign Ministry reiterates its unequivocal support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan within internationally recognized borders, and does not recognize the illegal elections of so-called ‘local self-government bodies’ in Nagorno-Karabakh on 18 September 2011,” the statement reads.

Local elections were held in Nagorno-Karabakh on September 18.
