YEREVAN.- Official Bucharest attaches major importance to Armenia’s steps aimed at carrying out reforms to harmonize legislation with the European one, said Romania’s Ambassador to Armenia Crina Prunariu.

According to her, new Electoral Code and this year’s amnesty can be considered a start for expanding transparency and deepening of government-opposition dialogue. Besides, the Ambassador marked active efforts of Armenian NGOs.

Asked about priorities of cooperation with Armenia, the diplomat said Romania is interested in development of relations between the EU, NATO and Eastern partners. Energy issues are very important for Romania’s security and Caucasus and Central Asia are viewed in this context, she told journalists on Tuesday.

Prunariu stressed that Romania was among the first to recognize independence of Armenia pointing out bilateral high level meetings and visits.
