VILNIUS. – 18th Session of the OSCE (Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe) Ministers’ Council will be convened in Vilnius, Lithuania, between December 6 and 7. This will be Lithuania’s final event as OSCE’s chairing country. 

The attendees are expected to evaluate the prolonged conflicts of Nagorno-Karabakh, Transnistria, and Georgia.  

Several important decisions will be reached during the session, Lithuanian MFA’s communiqué notes.

On the day prior to the event, session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (PA) Bureau will be held in Vilnius. This meeting aims to examine the current problems in the OSCE region and to make preparations for OSCE PA winter session.   

OSCE’s last summit was held in Astana, Kazakhstan, from December 1 to 2, 2010. 

Also in the year past, Lithuanian FM Audronius Azubalis had promised that resolution of the issue of prolonged conflicts would be a priority during Lithuania’s OSCE chairmanship.
