Armenia is currently in the middle of a process of significantly deepening its relations with the European Union (EU). Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, who is on a visit to Cyprus, said this during a press conference with the Cypriot FM—and answering the Associated Press' question about Armenia's partnership with the EU.

"(…) the launching of the Visa Liberalization Dialogue and providing support to Armenia under the European Peace Facility are only two examples of bigger cooperation, bigger picture. We are currently in the middle of a process of significantly deepening our relations with the EU, we have a new partnership agenda, we are thinking over and working over new mechanisms and tools that can be used in cooperation within this partnership. I would also like to add that the people of Armenia, we do have European aspirations and the EU acknowledges these aspirations, so now jointly we think about and work over, as I said, new tools, new mechanisms of bringing the EU and member states from one side and Armenia from the other side closer. I would also like to repeat the sentence that my Prime Minister said in his speech in the European Parliament: “From its side Armenia is ready to become as close to the EU as the EU would consider possible," Mirzoyan said.

The Armenian FM added that, “jointly with the EU but also with the US we work over the plan aiming to increase the level of resilience of the Republic of Armenia during these challenging times and having in mind the threats and challenges that we have in Armenia and around Armenia in our region. So, the processes are going on and hopefully we will be seeing new and new programs, joint tools launched.”
