YEREVAN. – There is more number of people in Armenia who are dismissed from their work at the initiative of their employers.
In line with the publication by the Armenian National Statistical Service, in 2010, 18.2 percent was dismissed from his/her job at the employer’s initiative, whereas 70 percent, at the employee’s wish. It is to be noted, however, that in many cases the employee is dismissed upon the employer’s demand, but this is legally formulated as if the employee “is dismissed in accordance with his/her own resignation.”
It is also noteworthy that the “strictest” employers in Armenia are in the construction business. In 2010, 35 percent of the employees in this domain were dismissed in accordance with the employer’s wish. And the “most lenient” employers are in the financial sector, where 5.4 percent is dismissed at the employer’s initiative.
