Hraparak newspaper of the Republic of Armenia (RA) writes as follows, in particular: According to some information, Armenia intends to fulfill Azerbaijan's another demand: not to extend the period of activity of the EU monitoring mission in the RA.

The chief of the General Staff of the Azerbaijani army, Kerim Valiyev, stated the other day that the deployment of the EU mission on the "conventional border" with Armenia aggravates the situation. (…).

We did not manage to verify the news officially, as it is not possible to get an answer to any question from either the [Armenian] MFA or the [EU] monitoring mission [in Armenia].

Let us note that the monitors arrived in Armenia in 2023 for a period of 2 years, their term expires in February 2025, and if the RA authorities do not submit an extension petition, the mission will end.

In political circles, they believe that perhaps it is due to this that [Armenian PM] Nikol Pashinyan, taking one step ahead, removed the Russian border guards from the Armenian-Iranian border, so that when the term of the [EU] monitors [in Armenia] is not extended, he would not be accused of being pro-Russian.
