The Armenian government, at its Cabinet meeting Thursday, made a decision on appointing a communication representative (liaison officer) of Armenia  attached to the country’s embassy in the Netherlands.

The respective rationale states that the purpose of cooperation with EU law enforcement agencies is to expand the fight against transnational crime, particularly in drug trafficking, illegal immigrants, smuggling, cybercrime, asset recovery, money laundering, and human trafficking.

In this context, the aforementioned decision will provide an opportunity to have a communication representative (liaison officer) at Europol through whom direct contact will be established both with Europol and with the liaison officers sent to Europol from the EU member states. As a result, the fast and safe exchange of information will be ensured, as well as the deepening of Armenia’s cooperation with Europol and the law enforcement agencies of the countries cooperating with it.
