European Union (EU) countries’ interior ministers, during their meeting held Thursday, have decided to lift internal land border controls with Romania and Bulgaria as of January 1, 2025, announced the European Commission of the EU.
"This important step completes the full entry of both countries into the Schengen area," the European Commission of the noted in a statement on its website.
