YEREVAN. – The National Alliance of Armenian Hunters has ten-thousand hunters, among whom many well-known businessmen, statesmen, and public figures, Alliance’s Chairman Grigor Grigoryan stated Friday during a press conference.

“Virtually all of the Government [and] the National Assembly is engaged in hunting. [But] the President [and] PM are not active hunters. The Second President [Robert Kocharyan] is a very good hunter, [and] I believe he still hunts,” Grigoryan said.

Membership to the National Alliance of Armenian Hunters costs 4,800 drams (approx. US$ 12.58), but the primary expenses are the weapons, ammunition, and hunting accessories. For example, a hunting rifle can be purchased in Armenia for 100-200 thousand drams (approx. $262-$524).

There are no hunting courses, but, as per Grigor Grigoryan, the basics are thought when becoming an Alliance member.
