Zhoghovurd newspaper of the Republic of Armenia (RA) writes as follows, in particular: The editorial office of Zhoghovurd daily regularly receives alerts that it is planned to carry out demarcation and delimitation at the border crossing point of Armenia, Georgia, and Azerbaijan in the near future. But according to the alert from the parents of the servicemen, the RA armed forces will also be involved in this process. Zhoghovurd daily had contacted with a request to the office of Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan to understand whether such information is accurate.

We received the following response: “We inform that the information noted in the request does not correspond to reality. In accordance with (…) the current Regulation, border delimitation work and complex measures are carried out exclusively by commissions, expert groups, as well as experts and specialists being involved in the work,” the response reads.

Let us remind that Zhoghovurd daily had information that the known border delimitation will begin from Gegharkunik Province—from the Chambarak and Sotk communities [off Armenia].

The Zhoghovurd daily has petitioned with a request to the Ministry of Defense to find out from which specific points the border demarcation and delimitation will begin. The [defense] ministry asked for additional time to respond to the request, but the Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded to the request as follows: “According to the results of the 11th meeting of the Commission on Delimitation and Border Security of the State Border between the Republics of Armenia and Azerbaijan and the State Commission on Delimitation of the State Border between the Republics of Armenia and Azerbaijan, held on January 16, 2025, the Parties continued their exchange of views on the sequence of sections/section parts for the further implementation of border delimitation work, and agreed to begin comprehensive work on delimitation of the state border from the northern section—from the point of intersection of the borders of Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan—and then in the southern direction—from north to south to the border of the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan with the Islamic Republic of Iran,” the response to the request reads.

That is, border delimitation [of Armenia] will take place with Iran and Georgia also.

It should be noted that the Islamic Republic of Iran has always emphasized its position on the inviolability of the borders between Armenia and Azerbaijan and the inadmissibility of border changes in the region.
