Tariffs on imports from Canada, China and Mexico will go into effect on March 4, US President Donald Trump said.

As the US President noted in the social network Truth Social, drugs continue to enter the country from Mexico and Canada “in very large and unacceptable amounts.”

“Most of these drugs, including fentanyl, are manufactured and shipped from China. More than 100,000 people died last year due to the proliferation of these dangerous and highly addictive intoxicants. Millions of people have died over the past two decades. The families of the victims have been devastated and, in many cases, virtually destroyed. We cannot allow this evil to continue to harm the U.S., and so until it is stopped or severely curtailed, the proposed TAXES to go into effect on March 4 will indeed go into effect as planned. China will also be subject to an additional 10 percent duty on that day,” Trump wrote, among other things.

Trump's tariff war with Canada, Mexico, and China began immediately after he took office. The US President explained his decision by the inability of the mentioned countries to cope with the problems of drug trafficking and illegal immigration.
