The nighttime lighting of the Eiffel Tower will be turned off due to the passing of Pope Francis, Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo said in a statement, Le Parisien informs.
“The Eiffel Tower will turn off its lights tonight to honor the memory [of the late Pope Francis],” Hidalgo said in a statement.
“I will propose that one of the [public] places in Paris be named after him,” she added.
Earlier, the Holy See press service reported that Pope Francis had died at the age of 88.
