Tsunami waves from the earthquake that struck Kamchatka Peninsula of Russia have hit the coast of the US state of California, the US National Weather Service reports.

“The tsunami has reached the California Coast, and is showing up in the Arena Cove, CA tide gauge and is making its way down the coast right now,” the aforesaid weather service’s Los Angeles office said in a statement posted on X.
