During the general debate on the agenda item “Assistance in Mine Action” at the Fourth Committee of the 80th UN General Assembly, Armenia’s delegation emphasized the humanitarian nature of de-mining activities and Armenia’s steadfast commitment to humanitarian norms and principles, the Permanent Mission of Armenia to the UN reported.
“Valuing support for de-mining operations and reaffirming its commitment to international efforts addressing the humanitarian consequences of anti-personnel mines and other explosive devices, Armenia has consistently made significant contributions to the comprehensive implementation of these objectives in conflict-affected areas.
Armenia’s firm dedication to humanitarian principles was demonstrated through participation in the 2019–2024 humanitarian mission in Aleppo, Syria, where Armenian specialists supported international efforts in mine detection and clearance. Among other aspects, the importance of sincere and apolitical cooperation in preventing human suffering and ensuring safety was highlighted,” the statement reads.
