At least 16 people were killed in Bolivia’s Cochabamba Department when a bus fell off a cliff, police reported, according to El Deber newspaper.
The bus went off the road and plunged into a canyon 600 meters deep.
The driver has been arrested and is suspected of exceeding the speed limit, which may have caused him to lose control off the bus on a turn.
More than 20 people were injured.
Residents of a nearby settlement were the first to arrive at the scene and began assisting passengers, many of whom were trapped inside the bus.
The vehicle was traveling from Quillacollo to Independencia.
