YEREVAN. – The Mother and Child Health Armenian Alliance has specified several problems concerning Armenia’s healthcare sector and the avenues for their solution. All these will be submitted, in written form, to the political parties running in Armenia’s upcoming parliamentary elections, and to interested organizations. This was noted on Wednesday during the Alliance’s annual conference. 

First and foremost, the discussants pointed to the problem of funding Armenia’s healthcare sector, and noted that the current funding is insufficient. They suggested to increase funding by way of collecting additional taxes from several products—such as mobile phone links, alcohol, and tobacco—and from unhealthy food—such as salt, sugar, and fat-containing food.  

The representatives from Armenia’s parties that attended the conference likewise highlighted these issues, and expressed a readiness to collaborate in this regard.
