YEREVAN. – In line with the results of the Gallup International Association survey, 21.3 percent of the Armenian capital city Yerevan residents consider the opposition Heritage Party-led “Barev [Hello], Yerevan” bloc to be a true opposition while 16.8 percent believe the opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC) Party is a true opposition. Gallup International Association’s Armenia Office Director Aram Navasardyan stated this during a press conference on Saturday, and he presented the results of their most recent survey.

In line with this poll, 14.2 percent of the respondents consider the non-governmental Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) to be a real opposition; 9.1 percent, opposition ARF Dashnaktsutyun Party; 6.6 percent, the interim coalition government’s junior partner Orinats Yerkir (Rule of Law) Party (RLP); and 3.6 percent, the Arakelutyun (Mission) Party. A total of 25.2 percent of the respondents believe there is no political opposition in Armenia, whereas 35.7 percent could not give an answer.   

Also, the respondents were asked to assess the campaigns, platforms, and slogans of the political forces that are running in the forthcoming Yerevan Council election.   

On a five-point scale, the ruling Republican Party (RPA) campaign was assessed 3.9 points; PAP, 3.7 points; “Barev Yerevan” bloc, 3.2 points; ARF, 2.9 points; ANC and Arakelutyun Party, 2.6 points, each; and RLP, 2.5 points.   

The Yerevan residents are most informed of the election campaigns of RPA and PAP, and least informed of the campaigns of Arakelutyun Party and ANC.

According to the respondents, the slogans of RPA and PAP are consistent with their activities, whereas the slogans of RLP and ANC are inconsistent with their activities.  

In addition, the election platform of RPA was assessed 4 points; PAP, 3.7 points; “Barev Yerevan” bloc, 3.1 points; ARF, 2.8 points; ANC and Arakelutyun Party, 2.6 points, each; and RLP, 2.5 points.   

To note, Gallup International Association conducted this survey among 1,066 respondents, and by way of posing face-to-face questions.
