YEREVAN. – The second scientific and tourist expedition will kick off in Armenia on June 8.

During the Monday press conference, rector of the Armenian Institute of Tourism Robert Minasyan noted the importance of such events in terms of development of scientific tourism.

The expedition will take place in two stages - a journey by train on the route Yerevan-Gyumri-Vanadzor-Alaverdi-Yerevan. At each stop participants will get familiarized with the cultural and historical monuments.

The expedition will be attended by representatives of the Council of Women of the Republican Party of Armenia, representatives of the Armenian Institute of Tourism, Russian International Academy for Tourism, clergy, students of military institutions and Yerevan universities.

The organizers will ensure participation of deputies, cultural figures so that they could communicate with young people.

The second stage includes hiking, climbing Mount Aragats, rock-climbing, a bike tour in Jermuk.

The organizers of the expedition are the Russian Embassy in Armenia, RPA Women’s Council, South Caucasus Railways, VTB Armenia, the Armenian Institute of Tourism, Russian International Academy for Tourism and youth organizations of Armenia.

Vice-Speaker of the National Assembly Hermine Naghdalyan said the Republican Party of Armenia attaches great importance to the development of tourism and education of young people.

She invited media to take an active part in the coverage of the expedition. The train marking the start of an expedition will move from Yerevan railway station at 10am on June 8.
