Armenian journalist Armen Martirosyan has filed a lawsuit in court over the forced return of Belavia plane –which he flew on - to Kiev airport.

The Chairman of Civil Union international organization wrote the aforementioned on his Facebook page,  Lenta reports.

“Lawsuit is filed against the Ukrainian authorities in connection with the wrongful acts in regard to me during the incident with Belavia on 21 October  2016,” Martirosyan said.

The journalist added that he will be represented by attorney Yelena Lukash, who was the Justice Minister of Ukraine from 2013 to 2014.

On November 2, the Belarusian Belavia Airlines informed that Kiev has agreed to pay “small compensation” for the incident involving the plane.

According to the text transcript published in Belarus, when the Boeing took off from the Kiev airport on October 21, the dispatcher told the plane commander that the plane should return. In fact, the pilots were threatened with military aviation.

After landing, Armenian citizen Armen Martirosyan was taken out of the plane. He was later set free.  According to the Security Service of Ukraine, the liner was called back so that the security forces could make sure of the absence of national security threat. The intelligence services denied the information on the threat to send fighter jets into the air.

There were 136 passengers and six crew members on board the plane. Minsk has sent an official protest to Kiev in connection with the incident.
