Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) President Pedro Agramunt on Monday stated that he will not resign.

Head of the National Assembly of Armenia Delegation to PACE, Arpine Hovhannisyan, who was elected vice-president of this organization during its summer session that kicked off on the same day, told the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“I consider this statement by Agramunt quite natural within the framework of his approaches and moral image because he showed already from the previous session that he is not going to leave within the framework of the moral procedure, under the conditions of a lack of confidence in him,” added Hovhannisyan. “And since there was no [respective] legal procedure, he made it until this session. But today, the EPP [European People’s Party] group [at PACE] also expressed no confidence [toward him].

“At this moment, he, considering the no confidence, could resign; but I don’t think he will do so. If we create a legal basis after the report tomorrow, a legal procedure on his resignation—or expressing no confidence—will in principle be created.

“If this report is accepted tomorrow, an opportunity will be created to recall Agramunt, too.”
