The Turkish Court of Cassation overturned the decision of the first instance court that the Sanasaryan Khan building should remain under the management of the country’s funds.

According to Istanbul-based Zhamanak newspaper, Sanasaryan Han was returned to the Constantinople Patriarchate of the Armenian Apostolic Church.

Archbishop Aram Ateshyan appealed to the court in 2014 demanding the return of the famous building to the patriarchate.

Sanasaryan Han was built by Armenian philanthropist Mkrtich Sanasaryan in 1895. The architect of the building was Hovsep Aznavour.
