YEREVAN. – About 60 ballots of our party were lost in Stepanavan [town].

Christian-Democratic Rebirth Party Chairman Levon Shirinyan, who also headed this political force’s electoral list in Armenia’s snap parliamentary election, stated the abovementioned at a press conference on Tuesday.

In his words, however, the disappearance of these ballots had no significant impact on the election results. But in Shirinyan’s view, the Central Electoral Commission should look into this matter.

As per the party leader, the more than 6,000 votes they received are a good guarantee for promoting their ideas and further strengthening their platform base.

“A political party has been complemented with professional political scientists, economists, lawyers, for the first time in the modern political history of Armenia,” the Christian-Democratic Rebirth Party leader stressed.

Also, Shirinyan made it clear that his party will not join the ranks of the non-parliamentary “street” opposition in Armenia.

“We will be an alternative political force,” he added. “We intend to raise the level of the political system of the country, [and] to propose new political, socioeconomic, cultural concepts.”

According to preliminary results, the Christian-Democratic Rebirth Party received 0.51 percent of the votes in the snap parliamentary election on December 9, and therefore it did not make it to the new National Assembly of Armenia.
