Former deputy of the National Assembly of Armenia Arakel Movsisyan’s (Shmays) son, Davit Movsisyan doesn’t accept the charge brought against him, as reported his attorney Ashot Apresyan.

Apresyan said he has appealed the decision on detaining Davit Movsisyan to the first instance court. “Since the Investigative Committee has already filed a motion for arrest as well, the court will examine both motions,” he said, adding that the court started examining the motions yesterday and the judge is currently in the consultation room.

A while ago, the Investigative Committee reported that Davit Movsisyan is charged with breach of relations between servicemen not subordinated to each other that has carelessly entailed grave consequences. The investigator has filed a motion with the court to select detention as a pre-trial measure for him.

In an interview with Armenian News-NEWS.am, Minister of Defense Davit Tonoyan had said that there were 3 people detained under the case of serviceman Vahram Avagyan who died on January 30, and one of the detainees is the son of ex-MP Arakel Movsisyan (Shmays).

As reported earlier, on January 30, 2020 at around 1:15 p.m. at the army training center of the Defense Army, compulsory fixed-term serviceman of N military unit, Private Vahram Avagyan fired gunshots with an attached AKM machine gun in the chest area and was transferred to the military hospital with firearm injuries, and at 2 p.m. he was pronounced dead. A criminal case been instituted by the garrison investigation department, and preliminary investigation is underway.

Within the scope of the criminal case instituted in relation to the death of the soldier, Mkrtchyan’s fellow serviceman Davit Movsisyan, Khachik Gasparyan and Spartak Avetisyan were detained.
