Following the ceasefire agreement on November 9, 2020, the Armenian and Azerbaijani sides have been searching for and exchanging—since November 13, 2020—the bodies of fallen servicemen, the Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) State Service for Emergency Situations reported on Monday morning.

During the search operations on Sunday, two more bodies were found—one from Varanda village of the Fizuli region, and the other, from the area of Tumi village of the Hadrut region. According to preliminary data, the body that was found in Tumi is of a civilian.

A forensic medical examination was ordered to identify the bodies.

From November 13, 2020 to January 24, 2021, Artsakh rescue teams have retrieved 1,283 dead bodies, 15 of which, according to preliminary data, are of civilians who had not left their homes where those settlements are now outside the control of Artsakh. These civilians were either killed or died as a result of shelling during the hostilities.

According to preliminary data, the 1,268 bodies that have been found so far are either of servicemen or volunteers and reservists who took part in hostilities.

Search operations are currently in progress in Varanda village of Fizuli, Jrakan village of the Jabrayil region, and the Hadrut region, as well as in the direction of Mataghis village.
