The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) has lowered its forecast for global oil demand growth in 2022 by 0.1 million barrels per day (bpd), to 2.5 million bpd.

According to the forecast of the organization, among the member countries of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) - a total of 34 countries in the commonwealth, including the U.S., Canada, Hungary, Estonia - oil demand in 2022 will increase by 1.3 million b / s and reach 46.1 million b / s. Countries, which are not members of this alliance, may increase crude consumption by 1,3 mln bpd, up to 53,5 mln bpd.

OPEC also lowered its forecast for oil demand increase in 2023 by 0.1 mln bpd to 2.2 mln bpd.

Among the reasons for the change in the forecast cited uncertainty in the global economy, the action to curb the pandemic coronavirus and geopolitical tensions.
