The process of impeachment of the President of Georgia has failed in the country’s parliament.

Only 86 MPs voted in favor of President Salome Zourabichvili's impeachment, while 100 votes were needed for this, reported Georgia News.

The parliamentary opposition was not present in the sessions’ hall during the respective voting, reported Sputnik Georgia.

According to the voting results, Salome Zourabichvili will remain in office as the President of Georgia.
