If Armenia does not bring its legislation into order, there will be no peace treaty. This open blackmail was voiced by the president of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, during his inauguration for another term.

"If territorial claims [by Armenia] against us are not abandoned, if Armenia does not bring its legislation into order, of course, there will be no peace treaty," Aliyev said.

This brazen statement was made the day after another Azerbaijani military aggression that took the lives of four Armenian servicemen.

"Armenia seems to have forgotten the results of the Second Karabakh War [in 2020]," continued Aliyev unequivocally.

"We have no claim to the territory of Armenia, but they should also give up their claims. Speaking with us in the language of groundless claims and blackmail will cost them dearly, and probably everyone can see that," Aliyev stressed.

To note, however, according to the legislation of Azerbaijan, the entire territory of Armenia is "historical Azerbaijani lands." So, Aliyev's assurances that "we have no claim to the territory of Armenia " are empty words.
