YEREVAN. – Armenia is interested in the continuity of the political discourse with both Lithuania and other European Union countries.

Armenian National Assembly (NA) Vice-Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov, who is also Head of the Armenia-Lithuania Parliamentary Friendship Group at the NA, stated the aforesaid on Thursday, at his meeting with Lithuanian Ambassador Erikas Petrikas.

Sharmazanov highly praised Armenian-Lithuanian relations, and considered last year’s collaboration productive, the NA press service informed. He also thanked Ambassador Petrikas for his efforts to further develop these relations.

The interlocutors discussed the avenues for enhancing the ties between the two countries.

Erikas Petrikas, for his part, extended deepest condolences, on his and the Lithuanian authorities’ behalf, in connection with Monday’s terrible tragedy which claimed innocent lives in Gyumri city.

Likewise considering last year’s Armenian-Lithuanian cooperation and accomplishments to be productive, the diplomat expressed confidence that these relations will become more productive and substantive this year. In addition, the ambassador conveyed to Eduard Sharmazanov the invitation to Lithuania extended to him by the head of the Lithuania-Armenia Parliamentary Group at the Lithuanian parliament. The deputy chairman of the Armenian National Assembly gladly accepted this invitation.
