YEREVAN. – Georgian citizen Tadevos Kh. died on the night January 9 at the Mikaelyan Institute of Surgery in Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan, and as a result of Influenza A (H1N1), or swine flu.

He was working in Russia.

We have learned that on January 1, the 52-year-old man had applied to the Ashotsk rural community medical center in Shirak Province of Armenia. Three hours later, he was transferred to the intensive care unit at the Gyumri city medical center. Two days later, and at the request of his relatives, he was brought to Yerevan.

This is the sixth death from the complications of influenza in the past one year, and the third respective death in the current year.

According to the Ministry of Health data for January 9, a total of 662 cases of hospitalization due to acute respiratory infections were recorded in Armenia, and 219 of these cases are pneumonia.

A total of 85 pregnant women have been hospitalized in the country, and 20 of them were diagnosed with pneumonia.

Also, 83 patients are treated in the intensive care units in Armenia, and 7 of them are connected to an artificial respiration apparatus.
