Member of the New South Wales Legislative Council Hon. Walt Secord criticized the Turkish Government for denying the Armenian Genocide. He made his statement during the first session of the Parliamentary Legislative Council of 2012.

“Turkey denies the murder of 1.5 million Armenians, which is disgusting,” he said.

According to him, the time has come for Ankara to admit the past and to recognize the Armenian genocide which occurred in the Ottoman Empire.

He also told about his recent visits to the Genocide Museum-Institute in Yerevan, to Auschwitz and to Halabja, Iraq.

“It is a pity, but not many of us know about the Armenian Genocide. The denial of that historical fact allowed to just watch at the transportations to Auschwitz and then to watch the smoke rising from the concentration camp,” Secord stressed.

He also thanked the Armenian National Committee in Australia (ANC Australia) for supporting his visit to Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh Republic.
