Dec. 6, 2009 Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his spouse Amina Erdogan arrived in U.S., Turkish Milliyet daily reports. Turkish Ambassador to U.S. Nabi Sensoy met the delegation in Washington.

Turkish Minister of State and Deputy Premier Ali Babacan, State Minister Egemen Bagis, Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, Deputy Chief of the General Staff Aslan Guner and other high ranking officials arrived in U.S with Erdogan.

Turkish delegation stayed at Willard Intercontinental Hotel, not far from the White House. The meeting of U.S President Barack Obama and Turkish Premier Erdogan is scheduled on Dec. 7 at 11:30 local time to be followed by joint press-conference. Thereafter Erdogan will give a separate conference at 2:00.

As NEWS.am reported previously, the focal issues of Obama-Erdogan talks will be Iran’s nuke program, Armenia-Turkey reconciliation, issues on Cyprus, Karabakh and Kurdish conflict settlements, sending of additional troops to Afghanistan, as well as Israeli-Turkish recently frozen relations. Earlier Turkish media informed, that Erdogan will tell Obama his stances on the matters, particularly Turkey will determine itself its priorities regardless Washington’s wishes. As for Cyprus issue, Turkey does not intend to abide by EC demands, it will not hurry to increase troops in Afghanistan and is inclined to normalize relations with Yerevan through NKR conflict resolution.
