RA Ambassador to India Ara Hakobyan went on a three-day visit to Calcuta, capital of West Bengal state, India. During his visit he is to hold meetings with representatives of the Armenian community, Acting Governor of West Bengal Devanand Konwar and Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee.

The press service of the RA Foreign Office told NEWS.am that Ambassador Hakobyan held meetings with Michael Dat, Head of the Holy Nazareth Church Council, Senior Council member Sunil Sobti, the spiritual pastor of the Armenian community manager of the Armenian humanitarian seminary Khoren Hovhannisyan and other representatives of the Armenian community.

An opening ceremony of the renovated hall of the Armenian seminary, and an exhibition on the occasion of the 140th anniversary of Calcuta, were held. The Armenian Ambassador and the Armenian spiritual leader in India addressed the attendees.

The students performed compositions by Komitas under the jubilee literature and music program.
