YEREVAN. – Armenia’s opposition Heritage Party MP Zaruhi Postanjyan introduced a bill on recognition of the independence of Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR).

But the Government considers it inexpedient to discuss and subsequently adopt this law proposal at this phase, the Government’s respective conclusion states.

According to the Ministry of Justice, the National Assembly (NA) is not empowered to recognize another state and, pursuant to the Constitution, Armenia’s foreign policy is planned and implemented by the Government, in conjunction with the President.

To note, this is the second time that Heritage’s NA faction is introducing such bill.
