GYUMRI. – A 20-year-old girl’s father raped her as soon as he was released from prison, but she luckily met a young man who being aware about it, anyway married her, the young woman told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

She claimed that the destiny was too cruel to her. She lost her mother at the age of 4 during the 1988 earthquake in Armenia’s Gyumri, while some time later her father was arrested and sentenced for ten years in jail. After the release the father forced her live with him and one day made her sleep and raped her.

However, she met a kind man a few years later, who, learning what has happened, anyway proposed her to marry him. To note, the young woman received psychological and legal support at the Women Rights Center. In addition, all those women who undergo physical, economic, or psychological violence may turn to the Center and receive support for free.
