YEREVAN. – The prestigious international organizations have given a high assessment to the progress that has been recorded in the Armenian State Revenue Committee (SRC) reforms being undertaken in the country’s tax administration, SRC press service informs. 

Pursuant to the World Bank’s and the International Finance Corporation’s “Doing Business Report 2013,” Armenia improved its rankings in the overall standings and in the payment of taxes alike. As per SRC Strategic Planning Department Head Sasun Hayrapetyan, Armenia improved its spot by 44 points, in this indicator, and became 108th from among 185 countries.

In the words of SRC Information Technology Department Chief Mikayel Pashayan, the E-acceptance of tax reports had started on January 1, 2009. And the recent statistics also bespeak the efficiency of using a respective online service in the country. 

According to SRC Taxpayer Service and Tax Procedures Department Head Karen Beglaryan, even though Armenia remained in the same position as last year in terms of the recorded achievements in the customs domain, but the Report’s respective indicators fully meet the international standards. 

Separately, Armenia occupied 82nd spot, from among 144 countries, in the World Economic Forum’s Global Competitiveness – GCI 2012-2013 Report, and thus the country bettered its previous year’s indicator of 92nd from 142 countries. It is noteworthy that, in line with the GCI 2012-2013 Report, Armenia finally passed the transitional phase, with respect to the level of development, and is included among the rationally developing countries for the first time.
