YEREVAN. – A festive event was held Monday celebrating the sixtieth anniversary of Armenia’s Police General Department on State Protection. 

The event commenced with official opening of the cross-stone-memorial for the fallen State Protection servicemen, the Police News Department informs. Police Chief Vladimir Gasparyan and fallen servicemen’s relatives and colleagues placed flowers to the memorial.    

In his remarks, Gasparyan stressed that eternal is the memory of those who sanctified the Armenian soil with their blood. “We will not only build monuments, but, also, pay tribute to the memory of our fallen comrades-in-arms and discipline our generations with that [memory],” the Police Chief noted.   

And during official opening of the renovated building of the General Department on State Protection, the honor to cut the ribbon was bestowed upon the mother of a fallen police officer. Vladimir Gasparyan toured the Department, and expressed his satisfaction by the servicemen’s combat readiness and the conducted work.   

Subsequently, a special session was convened, during which Police General Department on State Protection Chief Roman Mkrtumyan and several staff members were awarded. The session came to a close with the screening of a film devoted to the sixty-year track-record of the Department.
