YEREVAN. – Representing Armenia, National Assembly (NA) Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan and National Security Council Secretary Arthur Baghdasaryan attended Thursday, in Saint Petersburg, Russia, session of the Council of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), NA Public and Media Relations Department informs.    

And within the framework of the Interparliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Abrahamyan met with Chairman Kairat Mami of the Senate of Kazakhstan.

Mami stressed that Armenia is an important partner for Armenia, and noted that the Kazakh-Armenian community—which is close to 30,000-strong—likewise plays an important role in deepening ties between the two countries.      

In his turn, the Armenian parliament leader underscored the formation of active ties and enhancing of interparliamentary cooperation. Abrahamyan noted that the agreements, which are already signed between Armenia and Kazakhstan, are a good foundation for developing interaction.   

The interlocutors stressed the cooperation within international parliamentary circles and the interaction on the level of parliamentary committees and friendship groups. In addition, they reflected on regional issues and other matters of bilateral interest.   

Also, NA Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan invited Kazakh Senate Chairman Kairat Mami to Armenia for an official visit.
