YEREVAN. — Armenia’s young families will get 975 apartments under the Affordable Housing for Young Families program, Sport and Youth Affairs Deputy Minister Arsen Karamyan told reporters.
The total amount of mortgage agreements has reached AMD 7.3 billion. Nearly half of the apartments (55%) were granted in Yerevan and 45% in the regions.
“We are pleased with the distribution of apartments in the regions because we managed to avoid concentration of applications in the capital,” the official said. The new strategy of the program, planned to be approved in late December, will pay more attention to the regions.
Government will allocate AMD 3 billion for the program in 2013. Negotiations are underway to increase this amount by 1 billion in 2014.
