YEREVAN. – Experience has shown that people live three to four years longer if they are able to plan a secure retirement for themselves, Armenia’s Premier Tigran Sargsyan said Wednesday addressing the second annual conference on pension matters.

And Armenia’s citizens will be given such opportunity by way of the accumulated pension system, which will enter into force in the country as of January 1, 2014. 

Accordingly, and as per Sargsyan, the country’s pensioners will receive a guarantee that, when they reach the age of retirement, they will not be among those whose income is lower than the poverty threshold.

As of January 1, 2014, the youth of Armenia will have to make a choice between the pension funds, but this requires some competence, Tigran Sargsyan noted.
