YEREVAN. – During Armenia’s National Assembly (NA) session, NA Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan announced that the presidential elections will be held on February 18, 2013, Zhamanak daily reports.

“The [Central Electoral Commission] CEC, however, has not yet announced about the day of the elections. The CEC news service informed us that pursuant to the Constitution, the President of Armenia will make the announcement, in connection with the elections, by Public Television and Radio, but he has not yet done that. [So,] It has to be found out why Hovik Abrahamyan was in such haste and he made such statement. Is this his decision, or that of the [ruling Republican Party] RPA?”, Zhamanak writes.
