YEREVAN.- Armenia’s Central Electoral Commission (CEC) chairman must make a statement announcing presidential elections not late than 70 days before the vote.

President has no relation to naming the date of elections, spokesperson for CEC chairman Hermine Harutyunyn told Armenian News-NEWS.am , dismissing press reports.

According to Electoral Code, the announcement on elections is made on the Public Radio and then Public Television, she added.

Earlier on Tuesday Zhamanak newspaper reported during parliament’s session, Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan announced that the presidential elections will be held on February 18, 2013.

Hermine Harutyunyn said the date of announcement is not clear yet.
