YEREVAN. – Some senior officials from the opposition bloc Armenian National Congress (ANC) are meeting with the representatives from ANC’s regional chapters, in the past one month, and urging the supporters to definitely be active in next February’s presidential elections, Zhoghovurd daily reports referring to its well-informed sources.

“In the words of the ANC elite, [Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) Chairman] Gagik Tsarukyan met with [ANC leader and First President] Levon Ter-Petrosyan, and arrangement was made that PAP will support ANC [in the elections].

We attempted to receive a clarification from [ANC senior official and MP Gagik] Jhangiryan, but he hung up the phone saying he busy. [Another ANC senior official, Armenian National Movement Party Board Chairman, ANC National Assembly [NA] Faction Secretary] NA MP Aram Manukyan denied the news. And each and every one of the ANC active members asked to make sure that this conversation is not [said to have been] ‘leaked’ from them,” Zhoghovurd writes.
