YEREVAN. – Following a three-day upsurge, the US national currency weakened against the Armenian dram (AMD) at NASDAQ OMX Armenia stock exchange on Wednesday.
As a result of trading, the dollar’s average exchange rate comprised AMD 407.04/$1 at the stock exchange; this is a 0.27-percent—or an AMD 1.08—drop from the previous trading session on Tuesday.
It is possible that the Central Bank of Armenia has conducted foreign currency interventions to prevent further increase in the exchange rate of the dollar.
Wednesday’s sales totaled $5.5 million at the stock exchange.
The exchange offices have stopped buying the American currency at AMD 407/$1 in Armenia’s cash foreign currency market. Now, the dollar is primarily bought at AMD 406/$1 and sold at AMD 408-409/$1.
