YEREVAN. – European Liberal Democratic and Reform Party (ELDRP)—which is now called Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE)—Chairman Graham Watson canceled his meeting with Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) leader Gagik Tsarukyan, Zhamanak daily reports.  

“In its turn, the Alliance of European Conservatives and Reformists [AECR] party noted that the matter of Prosperous Armenia Party’s membership will be discussed solely after the presidential elections to be held in Armenia in February.  

At the meeting with AECR, during which PAP’s possible membership matter was discussed, it was not only decided that the discussion of any such matter will be postponed until after the elections but, also, PAP was given terms: To make a statement on Armenia becoming a NATO member, and severing ties with [Russia’s ruling] United Russia [Party], the Communist Party of China, and the regime of [Belarusian President Alexander] Lukashenko,” Zhamanak writes.
