YEREVAN. – Armenian National Assembly (NA) Deputy Speaker Eduard Sharmazanov on Monday met with German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) Office Armenia director Dagmar Bott.  

Sharmazanov highly appreciated Armenia’s cooperation with EU and especially with one of its key members, Germany. As per the NA vice chairman, a significant manifestation of this cooperation will be the Armenian-German conference on transparency of governance, which will be convened at the Armenian parliament. In this context, Sharmazanov underscored the GIZ activities in Armenia. He noted that Armenia has expressed a readiness to raise the level of the country’s transparency of governance and has taken significant steps in this direction, NA press service informs.      

Eduard Sharmazanov assured that the people and authorities of Armenia are very well aware of the benchmark role of developing democracy in the country, and they stand ready to continue the respective programs that are in progress. Deputy head of the Armenian parliament recorded that, as a result of effective cooperation, EU will allocate €15 million to Armenia, and as an addition to the “More for More” precept.   

In her turn, Dagmar Bott extended her thanks for holding the aforesaid future conference in Armenia’s parliament, underscored this event, and considered effective and transparent governance as the key precondition for international development.
