YEREVAN. – The Armenian National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee on Foreign Relations held a session Monday, during which the MPs discussed the agreement with respect to making amendments in the agreement on settling the legal matters with NATO, in connection with the Armenian Armed Forces units that are stationed in Afghanistan.
Deputy Defense Minister Ara Nazaryan informed that the objective of this agreement is to extend, until December 31, 2014, the deadline for the Armenian troops’ stationing in Afghanistan, as part of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF).
According to the Ministry of Finance, Armenia is not assuming any financial commitments with this agreement.
As a result of discussions, the aforesaid committee gave a positive conclusion to include this agreement in the agenda of the next NA special session.
